Tamworth Mental Health Unit
Expansion of mental health care capacity and improvement of patient recovery environments
Artea Green Ventures (AGV) provided independent environmental auditing services for the Tamworth Mental Health Unit (Banksia), in accordance with State Significant Development (SSD) requirements.
The project involved auditing environmental compliance and management systems for the development of a new mental health facility connected to Tamworth Hospital. AGV conducted site inspections and reviewed environmental management practices, focusing on regulatory compliance, sustainability, and minimisation of construction impacts on the hospital and surrounding community. Audits assessed key areas, including site operations, traffic management, noise, stormwater, and waste management, ensuring all mitigation measures were implemented effectively.
AGV liaised with APP Corporation, regulatory authorities, and project stakeholders to verify adherence to SSD conditions and environmental safeguards. Detailed technical reports documented findings, compliance status, and recommendations for improvement, supporting safe, responsible, and sustainable construction practices.
The facility is part of the NSW Government’s $700 million Statewide Mental Health Infrastructure Program (SWMHIP), aimed at improving mental health care delivery across New South Wales. Through independent verification, AGV contributed to the project’s commitment to enhancing patient care, recovery, and community-focused health outcomes while maintaining full compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
